Big day. Earth Day…yes. Record Store Day…you bet. Anna’s UC water polo team playing in the CWPA tournament at Notre Dame…yep. And we’re very happy to announce…
Pudge the World’s Greatest Dog turns 12 today!
Ours is a world weighed down by political turmoil, the devastation of our climate, global terrorism, and economic anarchy. For crap sake, the Cubs are World Champions! North is South, day is dark, right is wrong. But when Michelle, Mallory, Anna and I come home from a long day of fighting the imminent destruction of our souls, who makes it all better? Who charges us with wagging tail and licks-a-plenty and a face that exudes joy and unconditional love?
Pudge, the World’s Greatest Dog.
There are those of you without a dog in your life who say, “I don’t have time for a dog,” or “I’m never home,” or “They shed so much,” or “I don’t want to be tied down with the responsibility.”
Oh, you pitiful, destitute beings. I feel for you, truly. You’ll never know the joy of slobber on your shirt, the excitement of scratching those hairy bellies, the instant shot of love you feel when you’re trapped in a mind-numbing meeting and you look down to find a gift from your pal in the form of a stray hair on your pants. Magnets of affection.
Love. Pure, love. That’s the return on your dog investment. Standing with them in the rain while they poop…part of the deal. Cleaning up their grass-infused puke…ditto. Surrendering to the soaking that goes with the periodic bath…sure, why not. It’s part of life when a dog is in your life. And it all makes living a little more fun and a lot more enriching.
So, today we wish a happy twelfth birthday to our son, our brother, Pudge the World’s Greatest Dog. You’re as much a part of the Condron family as any of us, my man.
Thank you for lowering our blood pressure and being an eternal source of sunshine and joy in our lives!
Who's ready for a good-boy walk?!
